Dear Reader,

Welcome to the Summer edition of “Solutions,” your go-to source for updates on the solvent industry and our association.

The year 2024 brings a multitude of changes that affect us all. A new EU Parliament has taken office, populated by new faces full of ideas and responsibility. These fresh forces will forge new paths, establish new rules, and reconsider old ones. At the beginning of this year, we engaged in an intensive workshop within ESIG to discuss the upcoming changes and our priorities. This exchange has allowed us to have an action plan for the future.

There have also been personnel changes within ESIG. Our long-standing Sector Group Manager, Cornelia Tietz, has moved on to a new professional challenge in Brussels. Since 2017, her dedication has significantly shaped ESIG. Our Technical Manager, Thomas Vanfleteren, has also left ESIG to join another Industry Group at Cefic. We sincerely thank both for their excellent work and wish them all the best for the future.

Thomas Vanfleteren’s successor is Pierre Goursot, you can learn more about him under the “Staff News” section.

And I will be taking on the role of Sector Group Senior Manager replacing Cornelia. My name is Norbert Hannig, and it is an honour for me to assume this position. Some of you may already be familiar with me. I come from BASF SE, where I worked for many years in the field of Alcohols, Glycol Ether & Acetate. During this time, I was also a member of the ESIG Steering Committee.

ESIG has an outstanding team that consistently rises to meet challenges. Together, we will continue along this path in the future. I look forward to tackling the upcoming tasks together with you.

Wishing you and your loved ones a fantastic summer.

With my best personal regards,

Norbert Hannig
